My story so far
I’m Grace Miller, a 20 year old makeup artist based in West Yorkshire. Since the age of 13, I have been obsessed with makeup. I think what first started off my interest in makeup was watching my older sister apply her makeup, the maybelline dream matte mousse (applied with her hands of course!!) and dark black liner on her eyelid and waterline was my first ever insight into makeup. There was definitely no cut creases back then! I would wake up everyday 2 hours before school, just to be able to play with makeup and make sure every blemish was concealed with, looking back on it, a very orange concealer… I definitely discovered my passion and love for makeup around this time, but its safe to say not my skill!
As time went on, I would love to do makeovers on my friends and my family, I would often get asked by my mum, sister and my sisters friends to do their makeup, and as a 15 year old this was a massive compliment! I would sit and watch youtube tutorials for hours when I was meant to be doing homework, just watching in awe, practicing my winged liner and my contour until I got it just right! Teaching myself new skills and techniques, trying and testing out different recommended products only grew my passion.
It was around my second year in college where I thought maybe I could make something out of this little hobby of mine. As an 18 year old, I felt the pressure most other people feel at that age, of what I was going to do with my life. It was then that I made the big decision to not go to university and to try and pursue my dream of not just doing makeup as a hobby, but as a career! I knew this wouldn’t be easy and that many people would doubt me into making it as a successful MUA. However this only pushed me to strive for more as I did multiple training courses to enhance my skills more, I set up a social media and built up my clientele solely off Instagram, which then grew to people recommending me, word of mouth etc.
Throughout this early time as a makeup artist, I was using many different products from a variety of brands. Eyelashes are always a struggle for everyone, finding the perfect length, thickness and style to suit every person was a challenge when shopping as an MUA. Learning the perfect technique to make sure they went on like a dream was discovered after a lot of trial and error and soon I felt a master in eyelashes! However, It was always a dream of mine to make a range of eyelashes, to have a style of eyelash to suit everyone, the perfect curl, cruelty free, affordable and the perfect thickness on the band to ensure flawless application.
I have been so excited to share what I’ve been working on, and to be able to say I am launching my very own lash range is a dream come true! The inspiration to create this definitely came from my passion in makeup, and trying to find the perfect range of lashes for my kit without breaking the bank! This I believe I have found the perfect answer to. Throughout my career, I have been on a constant search to find the most amazing and affordable lashes however something was always missing, I knew that I had to create something for fellow MUAs and just people in general, struggling to find their perfect lash!
